Welcome to Carbon County, Montana
Carbon County is located in south central Montana. Carbon County was created on March 4, 1895 from portions of Park and Yellowstone counties and includes an area of 2,066 square miles. The county seat is located in Red Lodge; other towns located within Carbon County include Bearcreek, Belfry, Bridger, Fromberg, Edgar, Silesia, Joliet, Boyd, Roberts, Luther and Roscoe. To the south and west lie the picturesque Beartooth Mountains whose lofty peaks include Montana’s highest, Granite Peak with an elevation of 12,799 feet. Flowing from the mountains, the Clark’s Fork of the Yellowstone River meanders through central portions of the county. On the eastern edge of the county are the Pryor Mountains and the Big Horn River.

Minutes July 19 2010

     Commissioners David Davidson and Doug Tucker were present.  Clerk and Recorder Linda Ladvala was also present.  Commissioner John Prinkki is attending a National Association of Counties convention in Reno Nevada.

     The Commissioners reviewed the minutes of their meetings of July 8, July 12 and July 15, 2010.  Commissioner Davidson made a motion to approve the minutes as presented.  Commissioner Tucker seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

     Election Administrator Sally Rodibaugh met with the Commissioners for canvass of the special election regarding the creation of a Red Lodge/Roberts Ambulance District.  Administrative Assistant Linda Mann participated in the official canvass.  A total of 1,706 votes were cast in the mail ballot election of July 13, 2010.  A total of 3,102 ballots were mailed to eligible voters within the district, 55% of voters within the district cast their votes.  1,016 voted in favor of creation of the Red Lodge/Roberts Ambulance District.  690 voted against creation of the district.

     Commissioner Tucker will contact County Attorney Alex Nixon as to how the new board of Trustees should be appointed to include staggered terms.

     The Commissioner spent the remainder of the day working upon the annual inventory lists for each of their respective road districts.
